Enrolling your child in Prep: What's changing for 2027

​​​​​​Choosing a school should feel exciting, not overwhelming, and our Prep 2027 enrolment timeline has been designed with exactly that in mind.

​Many schools across Brisbane Catholic Education will start making enrolment offers in Term 1 to give families greater clarity, consistency and confidence as they navigate the early steps of their child's education journey.

For many families, one of the biggest challenges has been managing different timelines between schools. At Christ the King School, Graceville, we align our offerings with nearby schools where possible, to ensure all enrolment offers are released at the same time. This not only creates a fairer process but also gives parents the space to consider their options without pressure or uncertainty.

The updated timeline allows schools to connect with families earlier in the year. Interviews take place in Weeks 5-8, with early offers to be accepted by Monday, 23 March (Week 9, Term 1, 2026). If additional places become available, offers are sent in Terms 2–4, ensuring families on waitlists remain informed and supported.

For children, this approach helps our school better prepare for the year ahead. Earlier communication means staff can learn more about each family, understand each child's needs and begin planning a smooth transition into Prep. At Christ the King School, we believe in ensuring every child feels welcomed, understood and ready for their exciting start to school.​

Little Lanterns Program

​Once you have been given an enrolment offer, your child will become part of our Little Lanterns Program and will be invited to a range of experiences and events in the lead up to starting school, helping build familiarity, confidence and a sense of belonging within our school community.

Key Dates for Prep 2027

  • Application open: ​Now
  • Interviews: Weeks 5-8
  • Early offers to be accepted: Week 9
  • All other offers: Term 2, Term 3 and Term 4 onward (if places become available)
