Enjoy time as a family this Easter

I would like to say a big thank you to families for the support you've given to the school in what has been a great first term. I am grateful for the wonderful learning and consistency that Christ the King School has been able to provide for our children thanks to the great dedication of our teachers and staff and the continuing efforts of families.

I hope you get to enjoy time as a family this Easter.

Sibling Prep Enrolments for 2025 Now Overdue

Families with children already attending CTK School and looking to enrol siblings for 2025, please ensure your Application for Enrolment has been completed and submitted. You can do this via the website.

The demand for Prep in 2025 is extremely tight, therefore it is essential we have our current families accounted for.

If you have any questions about enrolment, please contact the School Office on 07 3379 7872.

Use of Social Media by Parents and Caregivers

As a way of building community, some Parent Class Representatives have organised Messenger or WhatsApp groups to chat, share activities and organise social events. There are also the designated Class Groups on Facebook managed by our Parents and Friends Association. We warmly welcome parents and caregivers to use social media as a way of connecting with other families and strengthening our community. However, we must ask that all comments remain positive and that such platforms not be a place where others are critiqued publicly.

Teaching is a challenging profession, with ever-increasing demands, and must have the support of families and school communities. Any concerns parents or caregivers have with school matters should be taken up with the teacher through the official school channels of an email, a phone call, or a face-to-face meeting, rather than posting on social media.

If you feel an issue needs further discussion, please make time to speak with myself of another member of the School Leadership Team.

Thank you for your support and cooperation on this matter.

Understanding BCE's Media Permissions

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) schools collect digital, photographic and multimedia images of students for a wide range of reasons, such as:

  • student participation at school and in school events
  • celebrating student achievements
  • promoting an individual school, and/or BCE and/or our associated entities.

These images are considered 'personal information' of students. The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the BCE Privacy Policy regulates how BCE schools collect, use and disclose the personal information of students and families.

Media access is managed and supervised by BCE and schools. BCE schools require informed consent from parents/legal guardians and in some cases, students, to use their images.

The three levels of consent that parents may provide for their children are:

1. Your School Community (Limited Consent)

The student/I may be photographed, videoed or recorded for use in mediums such as, but not limited to:

school and parent portals that are password protected.

Published material may include:

  • school newsletters
  • announcements and blogs
  • photo libraries
  • school-based publications (such as year books)
  • formal school, class or individual photos.

2. Public (Broad Consent)

The student/I may be photographed, videoed or recorded for use in all mediums permitted under Your School Community consent plus:

  • social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X etc.
  • public websites – either school, BCE or other associated entities – that are not password protected.

Published material may include:

  • public newsletters
  • performances
  • events
  • public publications and promotional material
  • public media events that may include student selection in regional, state or national teams, visits made by VIPS to the school, visits made by news outlets, publicity for the school and its events, participation in musical or dramatic performances, or participating in community events such as ANZAC Day commemorations.

3. None (No Consent)

The student/I will not be photographed, videoed or recorded. They/I ...

  • will not be photographed for formal school, class or individual photos
  • will be asked to stand aside for photography, videoing and recording of performances and/or events.

This consent is requested from parents at enrolment and can be updated in writing by contacting the School Office.

Update Your BCE Connect App

Recently, the Parent Portal and BCE Connect App were updated to repair issues. Parents and caregivers may need to manually update the App to the latest version (Version 3.22.5), depending on your device settings. The update is available for both Android and iOS mobile devices.

Addison Road Pick-up Zone is Not For Parking

Another reminder for parents and caregivers, and particularly those with children in younger year levels, the Stop, Drop and Go Zone on Addison Road is not for parking. Unfortunately, we have seen an increase in families with younger students park in this area, causing frustrations for other drivers.

From 7am to 9am and from 2pm to 4pm this area is signed as a Loading Zone, therefore drivers must remain with their vehicles. If you need to walk your child into school, please drive around the corner to find a park in Churchill Street or Randolph Street. This will allow our Stop, Drop and Go Zone to keep flowing and will not be disrupted for other families.

Thank you to our families for their support in keeping all our families safe.

Prayer for Easter

God of Life,

You broke the bonds of death by raising Jesus from the dead,

through the power of the Holy Spirit.

bring us all through the darkness of fear and doubt,

into the marvellous light of your freedom and truth.

We ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son,

and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Through his suffering and death, Christ gives us lasting freedom.

May God bless us with the inner freedom,

to live ever more truly the Good News of the Gospel. Amen.

Through his resurrection, Christ bathes and refreshes us in the river of glory.

May God bless us with joy as we know our rebirth into the ways of the Gospel. Amen.

Through the breath of his Spirit, Christ enlivens our hearts today.

May God bless us with courage to speak and spread the Good News.

Amen.
