Chess

At Christ the King School, students have the exciting opportunity to participate in weekly chess sessions designed to build strategic thinking, patience and problem-solving skills.

Chess is held every Wednesday at 1pm in the Library/Music Room, offering a quiet and focused environment for learning and play.

The group program is run by instructors from Chess Mates, a well-regarded organisation that specialises in teaching chess to children in a fun and engaging way. Whether your child is a beginner or already familiar with the game, Chess Mates tailors their teaching to suit all skill levels, helping students grow in confidence and ability.

Participation in the chess program is open to all students, and parents will be invoiced directly by Chess Mates for each child enrolled. This ensures a smooth and transparent process for families interested in joining.

Chess is more than just a game — it’s a valuable educational tool that supports cognitive development, improves concentration, and encourages good sportsmanship. We’re proud to offer this enriching activity as part of our school’s co-curricular offerings.
